Worcester County 4H Camp Marshall

2007–2012

As a young adult, Katie spent summers working at her local 4H camp. Located in Spencer, MA, Camp Marshall is a sleepaway camp where she made many happy childhood memories. Her first few summers as a camp counselor were leading campers in cabin life and directing the Low Ropes/Challenge course. Over the years, she transitioned to a role in the camp office. First as the Program Director, in which she assisted in office organization, worked one-on-one with special needs volunteers, and scheduled classes and living assignments for campers and counselors. Then in her final summer, Katie served as the Assistant Camp Director, helping the Director to hire staff, work with parents during camp registration, and observing and evaluating counselor classes. In each role, she took great pride in creating an environment for campers to safely explore their independence while having fun and experiencing rustic life in nature.

As an avid reader, Katie has spent many hours perusing bookstores and libraries, organizing her personal bookshelves, and traveling through real and imagined worlds in the pages of books. In addition to reading, she loves hands-on activities such as baking for friends and making arts and crafts.

When possible, she loves to travel, especially when it involves beautiful sightseeing and delicious local food.
